Monster Prototype

Hmm...not quite sure how to explain this but this is my monster prototype for a side project that I'm working on. When the project is complete I will post a link to it.

Stitch is Out!

...and, of course, I took a picture! I really wish I'd let Julian take the photo of it getting stitched up now.

Centre A: I can see your underwear

I went to check out the opening at Centre A: I can see your underwear by Natalie Purchwitz and Kelly Lycan. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at home and had to use my phone to take pictures. I would definitely suggest going and checking the show out before it comes down or clicking on the above link and looking at the images on Centre A's website.

Website

My website is currently under construction at www.cayleymalo.com so please give it a visit. Then maybe check back in a couple weeks and I'll hopefully have it pulled together a bit tighter.

The main body of the website is being supported by Cargo Collective Inc--if you're just starting a site and a little intimidated by learning code this is a friendly way to start.

Feedback on the website (i.e. suggestions, critiques, etc.) is welcome as this is turning into my sixth incarnation and I'm still questioning it. If you want to give feedback on any of my projects or work, it would also be welcomed.

Thank you,

Cayley Malo

PACT 19: Drop

I became a fluid member of 221a Artist-Run Centre in late Fall, 2010. This weekend is the 19th edition of their PACT show. The theme this time is "drop," feel free to visit the website for more info.

If you happen to be in Vancouver this weekend please stop by Saturday night to 221a E Georgia (just off of Main St) for the festivities--there will be free food and cheap drinks ($4)!

I will be the event photographer for the evening and will post our good times for those who made it and those who missed it. It is a one night only show so there is no option to catch the show later. An online publication will be made for all of the artists who participated (will be available through the 221a website).

Here's a sneak peek at my entry:

Drawing a Day Project--2011

To start 2011 off right I decided to go for a format I've used before a-project-a-day format that I used for one of my other blogs (aphotoadaychallenge.blogspot.com). This time I'm going for a drawing a day for the entire 2011 year. Six days into the year and I'm still on track! We'll see if this is harder to keep up than the photo-a-day project.
I found with the photo-a-day project that it was really the time commitment and editing that proved to be my fumbling point and, eventually, my downfall. I've not given myself a genre, size or medium restriction so I won't beat myself up if all I end up with is a doodle. Not having to post a drawing each day too will relieve some of the stress too.

My intent with this project is the same that I had with my photo: my skills are rusty and the best way to get going again is to just get it all out: good, bad and worst. As stated, I will be doing the project daily but will not be posting everyday--I will from time to time post some of my drawings and discuss my progress.
